Emmanuel Deruty (IRCAM, Sony) from Paris, was performing his original work at ELSA  Productions’s Electron Salon at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz when he saw Aimee’s set with Falling You. He was inspired to write a modern electronic operetta “Without Ourselves” for her after hearing her ‘strange otherworldly voice’.  It was produced by ELSA, an international production company, led by the indomitable Veronique Larcher. Aimee became an integral part of the company, performing in many shows, thereafter.

In addition to the operetta, Aimee and Emmanuel created a song cycle recording which Emmanuel dubbed, “The Witch Songs”.

Emmanuel stated, “ I want to create a soundscape in which your voice actually fits...to find the era in which you might belong.”

That era is now, if you believe in metaphysics.

Emmanuel’s work is unusual. Delicate and jarring. It’s best listened to with headphones as he is a masterful engineer, even though he is a teeny bit afraid of fairies.

Full song cycle is being uploaded soon.

The spirit of collaboration is at the heart of everything Aimee creates. Whether it’s music created with multimedia artists’ renditions of wearable art to create powerful ‘Tarot cards come to life’ live performances, collaborations with Letterpress artist, Felicia Rice to create multimedia art books, or multiple shows with Aerial dance company Mir and a Company featuring Aimee’s music and live performances.

Ricochet- an across medium art collaboration sponsored by the Santa Cruz Arts Council, is a perfect showcase for Aimee’s philosophy of  art inspiring art, and art informing life informing art. Multiple new songs and original woodcut press artworks culminated in a dramatic live show.

A natural storyteller and writer, Aimee has performed at “Porchlight”, the west coast version of “The Moth”; a live storytelling performing series with no notes and a live audience.
